St.James church Jaffna

                                               St.James church is located near to A-9 Road,Gurunagar,Jaffna .Foundation stone was laid by Rev.Fr.Loyoromaruwa and massive church was built by the help of 80 families who lived around the area in 1861.A church was constructed as temporally in 1624 and it was considered as “Gurukulam” by the Gurunagar community. The church architecture was based on the Roman archeological style. 24 wooden pillars were brought from Mullaithivu, and lime stones used in the steps which were brought from Galle. The length of this church is 232 feet and width 81 feet.
