K.K.S Light House

                                               Kangesanthurai Light House is situated near Kankesanthurai harbour and K.K.S beach. It was built in 1893. It is the 22 meters (72 ft) height and lighthouse has an octagonal masonry tower with lantern and gallery. The lighthouse was heavily damaged during the Sri Lankan Civil War and is inactive. During the early period, this was used for navigation purposes by fishermen and ships. It is also very oldest light house. The main objective of the light houses which had been constructed near harbours, was navigation to ships.
