Ponnalai Varatharaja Perumal Temple

                                               Varatharaja Perumal Temple is one of the ancient & most popular Vishnu temples in Jaffna and it is located at Ponnalai and the prime Hindu deity is Lord Maha Vishnu. It is closer to sea and surrounded with natural environment. This temple has tower in the front (Raja gopuram). Vanni tree is found here, and it is believed to bear some divine significance. Annual festivals are celebrated in different occasions in the year. One is celebrated in August and another high festival is celebrated in the month of December; Car festival falls on on 9th day ‘Krishna Jayanthi day (birth of loard krishna). Special poojas are conducted on Sundays.
